The Stupids Go To Washington: The Politics of Moral Relativism

Where Have the Leaders Gone?

This upcoming election has my head spinning. I will be 36 years old this August and I never imagined the day when I would feel outdated in my political leanings. Because of my conservative Christian background,  I grew up gravitating toward politicians that were conservative and established in their morals and principles. I appreciated those individuals that would not only serve the country as representatives but also take tough stands even if it cost them a second term. However, the new politic of this generation is strange to me and I am becoming increasingly disturbed at the stupidity of ourvoters. I think it is strange to me because there are several foundational principles that I take to the voting booth.  I believe in absolute truth that is based in the biblical worldview. This belief affects my whole way of thinking in regards to my value of life, marriage, war, justice, and the role and responsibility of government. I believe if a person’s truth evolves over time they have no standards or foundation. Therefore, I do not want them leading me or representing me.

This viewpoint of mine has increasingly looked dated when I look at young “swing voters.” These voters are not interested in values as defined in traditional ways.  This is why these so called swing voters were the ones holding signs against the war 6 months ago and now are only concerned about how the government can fix their mortgage and get gas in their tank. These swing voters sway in the wind because they have no foundation. How does this affect the modern political candidate? Politicians no longer stick to their guns and are not really expected to, they are praised and beloved when they can change their positions smoothly to match their evolving environment. While this has always been a trait of politicians, in my lifetime they have never been praised for it as they are now.  Politicians know that they can apologize their way out of anything ,except of course, standing for absolute truth.  Even when they are caught changing their positions they simply say, ” I am sorry things change and I know more now.”

Moral relativism is now running our country because it is running our politics.  The stupids have come to stay. There is no more right and wrong, unless you are talking about the Bible or anything true and then you are wrong! Political correctness and expediency are celebrated as what every politician needs.

What do I think will happen to this nation when the stupids come home to roost? Here are some things that we will see. These are not predictions because they are already taking place.

The Results of Moral Relativism

1. We will not be able to tell anyone that having sex with absolutely anyone or anything is wrong. In the end marriage will be made to look more wrong than any sexual deviancy.

2. Murderous acts will increase because life will have no value. Death will become more valued than life. Abortion, assisted suicide, etc.. Why?  Because people will say, “My life is the only one that matters”

3. The nation will be consumed with redistribution of wealth to the extreme that making people comfortable will become the main goal of government not restraining evil and executing justice upon those who threaten the life and liberty of others.

4. Real Christianity and probably most all religions with a Judeo-Christian worldview will be despised and oppressed. Self centered spiritualism ( Oprah’s Religion!) will become the new “god” that everyone bows to. Biblical truth is too much for a self centered, self worshiping society to take.

5. Society will cave in upon itself as it finds new and even more stupid ways to declare its moral relativism. It will continuously be caught in its own traps. Leaders will not know whether to wear a lapel pin or take it off, go to a prayer breakfast or condemn it, have your picture taken with a Muslim or ask them to leave, go green or start digging wells, pay for grandma’s surgery or give her a lethal injection to spare her quality of life, Legalize marriage between a man and a goat or call him a pervert, close borders to protect our national security or open borders to help the impoverished in other nations, and the list of indecision will go on and on.  It will be an endless cycle of indecision that will be to our ruin. This is why I believe the moral relativist hate Pres. Bush so much. It is not about his policies as much as his decisiveness and his standards of right and wrong. we no longer care to have a President with morals that will guide him in decision making. We would prefer a wimpy leader who will say to us, ” What is right for you may not be right for me, so who am I to judge!” Of course when they commit adultery or get caught in any other sinful behavior we cannot and will not call it wrong because we don’t want them saying anything we might be doing is wrong. So we say stupid things like, ” What they do in their private life doesn’t affect their job performance or character as a leader.”

The Point

When the stupids come to Washington and take over we will be ruled by people who can’t make a decision because they cannot afford to offend anyone.  If you want change you can believe in, don’t ask a moral relativist. They are lost without a compass so their change will always lead them in a circle.

I am just thankful that my Lord and His revealed Word doesn’t change.  This truth is increasingly more important to me as this election approaches.    This is the official end of my tirade.

While reading your post,I am watching Miss.Pattycake with Dixie Bella,my granddaughter.Miss Pattycake and several small children are singing…”He’s got the whole world,in his hands He’s got the whole world in his hands.”That is our hope in this diseased, dark, decadent, dead world.”Politicians can’t change that.
