The New Messianic Age of Obama

THE MESSIAH OF DEATH AND DESTRUCTION

In a sweeping list of executive orders, Obama has shown us what kind of messiah he really is. Yesterday and today our president has closed Gitmo, made federal money available to family planning organizations around the world to advertise and perform abortions, and is planning to order adoption agencies not to discriminate against same sex couples who want to adopt children.

Is this the messiah that the throng of 2 million weeping on lookers really wanted? Bad question, they probably did want that. The bottom line is that for all the 164 million dollar hoopla that was made over our new president he has proven to not be a messiah of hope and new life but a messiah of death and destruction.

His views about our security will no doubt cost American lives all around the world as terrorists take advantage of his European style of foreign policy.

His views about abortion will no doubt cause our tax payer money to be used to buy the scissors that will tear apart small babies around the world. How does it make you feel that your federal tax money is going to pay for the suction machine that will vacuum the skulls of untold amounts of infants throughout the world in the name of “family” planning? How do you think his “model” Lincoln would view that move? I guess killing children is now officially within his pay grade.

His views about same sex marriage and family will result in untold amounts of confused people who will never be taught the biblical models of marriage and family. I predict that in this new messianic age that “traditional” couples who declare their faith will actually be less likely to get a child for adoption than a non traditional couples living in their perversion. What a glorious new day!!

One reporter said that Obama was looking for a church where he could quietly sit and soak in the Gospel. That is laughable. I doubt he could give you a concise definition of the Gospel (Jesus died, was buried, and rose from the grave and all who believe in Him will have eternal life. Belief is repentance from sin and faith –complete trust- in Jesus) without stuttering around it, giving “qualifications” to it, or redefining it as social justice and redistribution of wealth in the name of God. (The Social Gospel preached in African American churches everywhere).

Pray for the president. Pray for wisdom, truth, and justice to reign down. Pray that God would grant him repentance.

January is a time to reflect on the previous year and look in hope to a new year as God graciously grants that to us. Many people make new years resolutions but I want to challenge you to make some spiritual resolutions for 2009 that will help you grow in Christ. Here are 10 resolutions that will keep us busy next year

10 Spiritual Resolutions

  1. I resolve to love the Lord my God with all that I am. More than my interest, my money, my stuff, my family, my kids, my time, my way of life, my preferences, my opinions, my traditions, ___________( you fill in the blank)

  1. I resolve to be a DISCIPLE of Christ and cherish the revelation of God more this year by reading, studying, and applying the Bible more to my life.

  1. I resolve to be in FELLOWSHIP with the saints this year. This requires that I take seriously my partnership with other believers, love for the brethren, patience with others, forgiveness of others, and unity with others through faithful assembly of ourselves together.

  1. I resolve to be a MINISTER to other saints this year. This requires that I seek out how God has gifted me through His Spirit and look for ways to utilize that gift within the body of Christ.

  1. I resolve to be on MISSION with God this year. I will pray for missions as it is done through my church and through all those my church cooperates with. I will give my money knowing that people are being saved and discipled through what I give. I will also be a missionary in my culture by shining the light of Jesus through my words and deeds. I will grow beyond my comfort zone and involve myself in mission activities beyond my comfort zone.

  1. I resolve to WORSHIP the Lord with a renewed zeal. I will not allow circumstances, difficulties, distractions, or even personal problems to distract me from worshipping the living God. I will encourage my fellow brothers and sisters to worship by faithful attendance, encouragement, and by carefully watching my life and words.

  1. I resolve to give to God first. I will learn to trust him through difficulties because He tells me to do so and to give as an act of faith. I will show the world the power and faithfulness of God by giving sacrificially and seeing Him provide my needs.

  1. I will resolve to support the ministry staff by being a partner in their ministry. I will understand that they are part time and they need our assistance to accomplish the task set before them.

  1. I will resolve not to be satisfied with accomplishments. I will look back and see the power and faithfulness of God as a motivation to keep pushing on into the future. I will understand that sitting still in the kingdom work of Christ is a losing strategy.

  1.  I will resolve to fertilize the grass under my feet instead of looking for greener pastures. I will see the potential that God has given me in my home, community, job, and church family and seek to put that potential into motion. I will understand that God has placed me here for such a time as this. I will put my energy into maximizing that potential.

I hope you get something out of these meditations for 2009. God bless you and thank you for a wonderful 2008.
